Flex n Gate
Flex-N-Gate produces plastics, metals, lighting and mechanical assemblies for the automotive industry. To meet the demands of a new contract, Flex-N-Gate turned to ABC Cutting Contractors to make room for the installation of new equipment.
Inside the plant we removed a 300-foot long, 40-foot tall, 9-inch thick concrete wall. Flex-N-Gate employees and robots continued operations during the removal process. To protect those employees and equipment, ABC constructed a protective barrier from floor to ceiling along the entire length of the wall to be removed.
To facilitate the safe removal of the cut sections of wall, ABC cored lifting holes to secure rigging. Each section was cut into manageable-sized sections using remotely operated track wall saws and lowered carefully using a 10-thousand-pound capacity reach forklift. These sections were taken out of the plant and stacked in a laydown yard outside. ABC used a ride-on floor scrubber during and after each shift to maintain a clean facility for plant operations. And, all slurry from the sawing operation was contained and pumped into containers to be hauled off-site daily. And when the job was completed, ABC loaded all concrete wall sections onto trucks and removed them.
Working 5-day work weeks, ABC was able to complete the project in less than 6 weeks – ahead of schedule! Flex-N-Gate had no downtime or loss of production during the entire project.
